Revive Update

I really ought to update more often...*frowns*

I might consider doing a day by day breakdown of happenings just to document myself growing up. Looking back at the frequency in which I used to blog, I am ashamed that I have allowed myself to lag behind on posts and updates, especially since I promised earlier on that this would include pictures and posts.

Seeing as the purpose of a blog is as an internet journal or electronic journal (e-journal?), I shall continue with my daily ramblings.

***
Today started off with me waking up at 8:20 a.m. (My usual morning time has since shifted to 10 a.m. - yeah. Be envious that I get to sleep in. Hehe) because I remembered that I had a mission to accomplish.

I am living with my aunt in New Jersey now. And today, is her birthday. :)

For many years, I often prepare birthday gifts and/or birthday cards very close to the actual date. Procrastination was very much a part of me, you see. So this time, mostly due to heavy influence from my dearest cousin, I started the preparation 2 weeks in advance. Yes. TWO WEEKS! Surprised myself too.

Preparation started off with a handmade/self-designed birthday card. Since I discovered creativity at a young age, I had always prepared birthday cards/special occasion cards myself. I believe that whilst I may not possess as great a talent as to be able to create really beautifully crafted cards, I pride myself in being able to come up with at least a rather decent looking one. No one has complained so far anyway.

Next, was to get a gift. Being here, the culture it seems, was to present people with things - in a sort of show offy way. I have learnt that it is all about presentation and other's perception. Perhaps it has always meant to be that way. But for some reason, when I am with my friends back home, we never felt the need to gift each other quite this way. Regardless, it is valuable lesson nonetheless.

So for the gift, I was unsure as to what I should get. In the end, I settled for getting her earrings - studs, specifically, simply because the ones she has on were more silvery and rather ...normal. I was debating between getting her one that was in ruby (to match her fiery personality) or a dark sapphire (that was very classy and goes well with her rather fair skin tone). There was quite a bit of debate, discussion and going back and forth with both colours but I got the sapphire instead:

Pretty isn't it? :D Kinda reminds me of royalty and Kate Middleton.
So yeah. I woke up all dried eyed I could barely open my eyes, and in my semi sleepy state, somehow miraculously glided my way through to the kitchen to leave the gift and card by the kitchen island and successfully made my way back to bed. :D

I am hoping she wears it to work.

On a separate note, I started reading 50 shades of Grey. Heh. Heh. >:D

I started noticing people on Pinterest pining posts about it and was wondering what on earth it was referring to. When I found out, I started noticing the books that were on bookshelves at the book store and was very tempted to buy it. I mentioned this to my cousin who then very casually told me that there was a free online version of the book.

So I proceeded to hunt it down.

Ho. Ho.

Now, I am at Chapter 11.

And so intrigued. >:D

It has been quite a while since I last read a book. Though it was about a month ago I read The Hunger Games. Still, it has been awhile.

I have been talking to my dearest friend, Shu Yi lately and she has gotten me very excited about travelling. :)

It is rather unfortunate that we would not be able to join each other when she comes by to the States but hopefully somewhere near the future we could plan a trip together. :)

I am in the early stages of planning a trip to San Francisco and Las Vegas. Though there are other places that I would love to go, namely Hawaii,Yellowstone, Chicago, Miami etc., I figured I would cover these two main places before I head back. After all, apart from New York City, the most photographed or at least most often shown in movies and tv shows are San Francisco and Las Vegas. :D

I am planning to properly plan the itinerary on my own. From living, transportation to places of interest and good food to eat. I am a little freaked out at the enormity of detailed planning that is required and frankly, not sure if I would be able to pull it off travelling on my own. Though I did go to Washington D.C. on my own, it really doesn't count as travelling by myself since I was following a tour group. And given that for every trip that I have went for since young I always had everything planned for me, it is rather daunting to know that I have to do everything on my own.

Worst of all, I have to plan fast if I am planning to go early November. Just to avoid the bitter cold of winter, I am hoping that everything goes as planned. *fingers crossed*

To top it off, money is quite an issue too. T.T As much as I would love to spend a good portion of it on pretty clothes, the experience of travelling is quite worth it. Seeing as I am already here, I might as well, right?

I especially would not want to look back and wished I had done all that.

So now here are my top 3 places to visit:

  1. San Francisco
  2. Las Vegas
  3. New Orleans
Now it's all about planning...
