Life Partner

All this while, I fancied myself an expert on the big L word. Many came for advice and I willingly parted wisdom on a subject I was actually, most alien about. 

Even when I was in a relationship, people often asked me on the secret of long distance relationship and they often wonder the recipe that kept us together for so long. Yet again, I passed on the cookbook without actually knowing the proper measurements and ingredients to the recipes. 

But just because one owns the world's best cookbook does not mean one knows how to appreciate it. 

I may or may never not know what love really is all about. But I do know what makes a guy so special and worth keeping for life. 

1. he never hangs up on you
2. he stays up just to see you before he sleeps
3. he bakes your favourite cake on your birthday
4. he gives you his jacket and proclaim it's not that cold when really, it's 5 degree Celsius (and he is visibly shivering) 
5. he leaves cute drawings on random pages of your planner
6. he takes care of you when you are sick (e.g. sleeping on the floor just so you have space on the bed; cooking porridge even though he does not know how to; loving you even when you look and feel like a walking zombie)
7. he knows your cravings for something and purposely gets you what you like
8. he can be surprisingly adventurous that it throws you off guard 
9. he always believes in ladies first. In everything. Yes. EVERYTHING.
10. he fights for the relationship in his own way
11. he writes amazing love letters 
12. he is proud of you
13. he never gives up on you
14. he tells you he is not a romantic sort when really, all the above just proves he is

I was lucky to have someone like that. Someone so selfless and incredibly loving. But an alien to appreciating God's gifts, I let my angel go. 

I'm not sure what is ahead of me. I wish I did. But that's what life is described to be : a mystery and like a box of chocolates. Just that right now, perhaps I took a bite off a 90% cocoa chocolate candy.
